Get Involved
Support to the College of Charleston’s Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture is vital in order to carry out its mission to collect, preserve, and make public the unique historical and cultural heritage of Charleston, Lowcountry, and South Carolina African Americans.
We hope you consider helping the Avery Research Center promote its mission for generations to come.
You can be involved in the following ways:
Making a financial contribution
The Avery Research Center uses the funds raised to acquire rare books, manuscripts, and artifacts, secure top-notch lecturers and speakers, curate thought-provoking exhibitions, and provide workshops to better serve the community. You can make a financial donation to the Avery Research Center here.
Donating records and materials
The archives and museum actively collects items related to the African American experience in the South Carolina Lowcountry. If you’re interested in donating, carefully read the donation guidelines and fill out the form or contact our curatorial staff. Please do not bring items to the Center without an appointment.
