Digital Collections

The Avery Research Center is currently working to provide digital access to its holding, prioritizing those collections with highest research value. All digitized collections are currently available through the Lowcountry Digital Library. Digitization has been made possible by by grants from the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelly Foundation and the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.

The Lowcountry Digital Library
The Lowcountry Digital Library digitizes and makes accessible unique local resources. In order to provide a well rounded digital collection, the library works with partner institutions in a collaborative manner to ensure the overall quality of the digital library. Moreover, it provides professional training and support for archive, library, and museum professionals throughout the region.

The Lowcountry Digital Library documents the history and culture of the region while it supports current research initiatives and cultivates creative content and digital information in appropriate formats across disciplines in support of scholarly inquiry.

MUSEUM TOURS: We offer self-guided tours Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1030AM-12PM and 2PM-330PM. Large groups limited 25 people or less per time slot.
ARCHIVES: Researchers must have a consultation BEFORE making a research appointment.contact us in advance for further assistance
BUILDING CLOSURES: We will be closed to the public on Friday, May 10th and Monday, May 27th.
