Black Ink Book Festival (Jan 12-14)

Black Ink: A Charleston African American Book Festival is the first and only annual celebration of African American literature in the Charleston area. Black Ink serves as a platform to support local Black writers, creating a space for them to share their work, discuss their craft, and expose readers of all ages to the great variety of African-American authors in the area. With the support of community-conscious sponsors Black Ink: A Charleston African American Book Festival will impact the lives of hundreds of readers of all ages.


Dr. Consuela Francis Reading Circle

Dr. Consuela Francis Reading Circle is scheduled for Thursday, January 19th at 6:30pm EST via Zoom.  We will be discussing, Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God.


AAST Faculty Book Celebration (Postponed)

Faculty book Celebration with Gary Jackson and Mari Crabtree on Thursday, January 26th at 5pm EST


An Evening with Tara Bynum

Join us as we host Dr. Tara Bynum on Tuesday, February 7 at 7pm EST. She will speak on her recent book release Reading Pleasures: Everyday Black Living in Early America.

BUILDING CLOSURES: We will close at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27th, and reopen for research and tours on Monday, December 2nd, at 10 a.m.

MUSEUM TOURS: We offer self-guided tours Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1030AM-12PM and 2PM-330PM. Large groups limited 25 people or less per time slot.

ARCHIVES: Researchers must have a consultation BEFORE making a research appointment. Contact us in advance for further assistance
